The name "DarakDarika" is derived from the ancient Pali language (पालि) — the sacred language of the Theravāda Buddhist scriptures (Tipiṭaka), closely related to the language spoken by Lord Buddha.

Pali
दारिका
Darika
Meaning: Girl / Daughter
Used in matrimonial context as: Bride

Together, DarakDarika (दारक + दारिका) beautifully represents the union of Boy & Girl — the very essence of matrimony.
As per the Pali Text Society's Dictionary, Dāraka (दारक) means "a boy, child, youngster, young man" and Dārikā (दारिका) means "a young girl, daughter."
These words appear in Buddhist texts such as the Vinaya Piṭaka, Jātaka tales, and Milindapañha.
In the context of matrimony, we use Darak for Groom and Darika for Bride — reflecting our deep-rooted connection to Buddhist heritage and Pali literature.

"Hatred does not cease by hatred, but only by love; this is the eternal rule."

— Tathagata Gautam Buddha (Dhammapada, Verse 5)

"I measure the progress of a community by the degree of progress which women have achieved."

— Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar

Our Story

DarakDarika was founded in 2017 with a heartfelt mission — to help individuals from the Buddhist community and all other communities find their perfect life partner in a safe, dignified, and culturally respectful environment.

What began as a small initiative to serve the Buddhist community in Maharashtra has grown into a trusted matrimonial platform connecting thousands of families across India and abroad. We understand that marriage is not just a union of two individuals — it's a sacred bond between two families, built on mutual respect, trust, and shared values.

Our founder recognized a need for a dedicated, community-focused matrimonial platform that respects cultural traditions while embracing modern technology. Unlike generic matrimonial sites, DarakDarika was built with a deep understanding of Buddhist values — compassion (karuna), loving-kindness (metta), and mindfulness (sati) — which guide every aspect of our platform.

Our Mission

To provide a safe, trusted, and culturally respectful matrimonial platform where individuals and families can find compatible life partners. We are committed to:

Our Vision

To become the most trusted and preferred matrimonial platform for the Buddhist community and all communities in India and worldwide. We envision a world where finding a life partner is a joyful experience — free from fraud, harassment, dowry demands, and caste discrimination.

Inspired by the revolutionary teachings of Bodhisattva Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar — who led millions to embrace Buddhism on 14th October 1956 at Deekshabhoomi, Nagpur — and the timeless wisdom of Tathagata Gautam Buddha, we believe in the fundamental equality of all human beings. We strive to create a platform where matches are made on the basis of compatibility, character, education, and mutual respect — not on caste hierarchy, dowry, or superstition.

Dr. Ambedkar said: "Unlike a drop of water which loses its identity when it joins the ocean, man does not lose his being in the society in which he lives. Man's life is independent. He is born not for the development of the society alone, but for the development of his self." — This principle guides our platform: every individual deserves the freedom and dignity to choose their life partner.

Our Roots — Buddhist Heritage & Ambedkarite Vision

DarakDarika is deeply rooted in Buddhist philosophy and the Ambedkarite movement. The name itself, derived from Pali — the language of the Tipitaka (Buddhist scriptures) and the language in which Tathagata Gautam Buddha delivered his teachings — reflects our commitment to serving the community with integrity, compassion, and rationality.

Guided by Buddha's Noble Path

We follow the core Buddhist principles in everything we do:

Inspired by Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar

Bodhisattva Dr. Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar — the architect of the Indian Constitution, champion of social justice, and the leader who brought millions to the path of Buddhism — is our greatest inspiration. On 14th October 1956, Dr. Ambedkar embraced Buddhism along with lakhs of followers at Deekshabhoomi, Nagpur, giving birth to the Navayana Buddhist movement in India.

Dr. Ambedkar's key teachings that guide our platform:

"Be your own light. Be your own refuge. Seek no other refuge."

— Tathagata Gautam Buddha (Mahaparinibbana Sutta)

Our platform proudly serves the Bauddha (Buddhist/Ambedkarite) Samaj and welcomes all progressive-minded individuals. We follow Dr. Ambedkar's vision of a casteless, equal society and believe that a marriage should be a partnership of equals — based on mutual respect, shared values, and rational thinking.

The Ambedkarite Path — Principles We Follow

As followers of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar's Navayana Buddhism, our platform upholds these values:

"I like the religion that teaches liberty, equality, and fraternity."

— Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar
